July 11

Hi all,

Well, only a couple more days of the course. Some of you have completed everything except Discussion 4. I'm grading things as they come in ... well, except for today. I'll get on it tomorrow. So if you've posted your final project and blog posts I'll grade them right away.

Today was a milestone for me, I completed all the paperwork for retiring from ISU ... The best part? A free parking pass!! Yippee!! I will still be toodling around campus, so please say "hi" if you see me. I will also keep my email.

Have a great week - enjoy looking at each other's projects.

See you online,
Dr. T

Hi everyone, I'm back in the heat of Central IL - wow! 96º at noon. Anyone have a pool? I'll be right over.

I wanted to share with you that Jackie Gerstein has a new book on the Flipped Classroom. It's $1.99 for the Kindle version: http://amzn.to/NbgafY.
You do not have to have a Kindle. Just download the Kindle app for your computer, tablet, iPad, or phone and read it from there.

Hello from San Diego - yep, I'm still here ... but thinking about you all and the HOT weather out there.

Only 2 more weeks and you'll graduate from CI 579 Boot Camp. You're doing a great job, just keep you eye on the prize!

Please remember to label your blog posts according to the assignments; e.g., Blog Post 3 and Reflection 2 are coming up. Thanks to those who are already following those protocols. It makes grading much, much easier.

Last, I've send emails to all of you who have submitted your Final Project Prospectus in the Google Form. If you didn't get an email from me about it, check your junk folder - it was sent through Engrade.

Have a good week.

Hi everyone,

I posted a new podcast - check the course schedule.

June 12

Hi everyone,
Here's the podcast for this week.

Hi everyone,

Based on the results of the Doodle survey, our first meeting will be tomorrow night at 7:00pm. Here is the link - http://bit.ly/ToledoSu12.

Once you go to the site, you will be asked to download a program, say yes. Then go to Tools --> Audio --> Audio Set-up Wizard. This will enable you to hear and talk – if you have a mic. I strongly suggest that you use a headset – or if you're on a Mac, your earbuds. This reduces the feedback.

Remember, this is an optional session. By the way, if you don't have any idea what I'm talking about, take a look at the Week 2 information in Module 1. You'll see a podcast, transcript, and a Doodle link.

I still haven't gotten the link to the Mobile Technology webcast from last week. But what I do have for you is a link to a webcast from this morning. Dr. Nellie Deutch interviewed Vicki Davis, @coolcatteacher, of Flat Classroom Project fame: http://goo.gl/r4xr8.

Hi everyone,
I hope you had a good long weekend. Could it have been any hotter in May? Phew!! I've put points in Engrade for the IceBreaker. If you haven't logged in yet, check your email (possibly Junk folder) for an email from Engrade. It looks like most of you are in there.
Well, keep learning ... remember to check the course regularly. You never know when I'll put something up here that you will benefit from.

You will now find a template loaded on your portfolio page. I had forgotten, so Phillip, no more snow storm :-). Nice job Kira, you added the Portfolios template on your own.

Hi everyone,
I've noticed that most of you have created user profiles in Wikispaces that make it hard to tell who you are. So, you have a couple of choices. 1) Go into your profile and change your user name to FirstnameLastname; or 2) Sign everything you post (besides on your portfolio page) with your first and last name. If you aren't opposed, it would help me if you changed your username - then, as I'm grading I don't have to go look up who you are.

Welcome again ... now that we're in the real Week 1. Be sure to check here regularly, in fact you can have a notification sent to you when there are changes to this page.

Here's a great opportunity to hear about Building a PLN from some K12 educators who were guest speakers on Classroom 2.0 LIVE. Classroom 2.0 LIVE is a weekly webcast that takes place via Blackboard Collaborate (formerly Elluminate) - all of the broadcasts are archived, plus you can subscribe in iTunesU. Here's the link to the PLN webcast: http://live.classroom20.com/archive-and-resources.html and other archived webcasts.

Also, in April of this year, Classroom 2.0 hosted the 2012 Social Learning Summit. Here is the listing of the presentations and links to the archives: http://www.classroom20.com/page/2012-recordings. I'm sure you will find some interesting presentations ... many of which will help you acquire more skills and deeper understandings of educational technology.

If you see any problems - broken links, differences in instructions, etc. - put a note in the Community Questions - be sure to include the URL of the specific page where you found an issue.
This is the same shell that was used for Spring, so I won't be surprised if there are a couple of issues.

Welcome to C&I 579 - Educational Technology. It's a great time to be in education and have so many excellent tools available for free. So we're off for a great adventure.
Once the class begins officially, check the Announcements 4-6 times each week.
Post your questions to the Community Question discussion.
See you all online.
